Candy and Goblins and Ghosts OH MY!!!

Benny the Spaceman

Benny the Spaceman

Tomorrow night we embark on our yearly pilgrimage with the kids.... A quest for hoards of candy on All Hallows' Eve. After last years successful yellow and purple Minions from 'Despicable Me 2, costumes, my son asked about characters from 'The Lego Movie.' He selected Benny the Spaceman for himself and Wyldstyle for his sister. (She's two, she just goes with it.) So we prepped costumes for them. All is well.

Then my little one asked, "What Daddy gonna be?" -- Long pause -- "He gonna be Emmett!" Said with a grandiose arm gesture so we knew it was mean to be. So next up was finding an orange construction vest for him and make a piece of resistance. Done!

I, the mom, was lucky enough to miss out on having to dress up. I could be dressed in nice warm clothes as they traipsed around the neighborhood, cold but happy.

Alas, my dream soon came to an end... My little one decreed that "Mama gonna be Unikitty!" Grandiose arm gesture again, thus the decree must be followed. So now I will be dressed as a giant pink cat with a blue unicorn horn and tail. At least I have a good excuse to wear my pink wig. ;-)

For other fun Halloween experiences, check out 'You Might As Well Laugh' by Sandi Kahn Shelton. She has a great piece regarding the joys of trick or treating and the parent/child candy negotiation that comes with it.

Or, for something a bit more spooky, check out 'Desperado' by Sarah Barnard. This short ghost story is based on a real life event in Sarah's life. Camping, The Eagles classic tune, and a ghost! Check it out!

The first five people to leave a comment on our blog page about your favorite Halloween costume will receive a complimentary copy of the audiobook mentioned above. Pictures of the costume are a great bonus!

Happy Halloween, Everyone!!!
